Clubmark newsletter - October 2010

IN THIS ISSUE

Clubmark: It's all go...

There is so much going on across the sports industry at the moment that we thought we should bring you up to speed.

The application process to volunteer at 2012 is now open. I know we are biased but Clubmark volunteers would be ideal candidates bringing lots of relevant experience. So don't miss your chance to apply to be a ‘Games Maker'.... visit the London 2012 website for more details.

As you may now be aware, the new Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) did not commence in July after the Government announced plans to re-model the scheme; committing to bring it back to proportionate, common sense levels.... as soon as we know we will inform you of any developments. In the meantime, organisations are therefore recommended to continue to implement their existing safe recruitment processes, which should include CRB checks for relevant individuals and posts.

The Government has asked the CCPR to conduct a review into the impact of regulatory burdens on sports clubs and their volunteers to find out what gets in your way or drives you mad. Share your views via a short online survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RBR

And finally, we must mention the strength of Clubmark with more than 11,000 accredited and working towards clubs across a range of over 50 sports. Don't know about you but I am proud to be associated with one of Sport England's great success stories!

P.S. More than 1,000 Clubmark clubs have registered for the Sainsbury's Active Kids Scheme. If you are one of them, please get in touch so we can find out how you have benefited!
