More local sports fields across the country are to be safeguarded and improved after Sport England announced a 50 per cent boost to its Protecting Playing Fields Olympic and Paralympic legacy fund.
The £5 million increase, made possible by strong sales of National Lottery tickets, is in response to huge demand for the programme from sports clubs and other local groups.
Sainsbury's Active Kids 2013 has got off to a fantastic start, so make sure your club keeps collecting vouchers until 22nd May.
The key to Active Kids is to inspire everyone around you to pull together, work as a team and collect as many vouchers as possible. Members of Burgess Hill Runners are celebrating becoming the first club in the South East, London and East regions to be awarded England Athletic's Club Accreditation, for clubs purely with adult members.
Lincolnshire Sports Partnership (LSP) is the latest county sports partnership to become a Clubmark licenced organisation, meaning they can award accreditation to quality clubs in their region.
The awarding of a Clubmark licence will support LSP in their future club development activities which are on the increase.
LSP's pilot Clubmark accreditation was awarded to Lincoln Indoor Bowls Club which itself was praised for the thorough nature of its submission.
We are delighted to announce that the official Clubmark Facebook page will host an interactive discussion forum for clubs and volunteers every Friday afternoon.
During this, anybody who wants to ask a question or raise an issue can do so by simply posting their question as a comment on the timeline.
The questions can cover achieving Clubmark accreditation, club development or volunteer support.
The forums will be hosted by one of our Area Managers.
Sainsbury's Active Kids is once again underway.
The scheme aims to help young people of all ages and abilities lead healthier, more active lifestyles whilst having fun.
Clubmark accredited clubs can collect Active Kids vouchers when shopping at Sainsbury's between 30th January and 22nd May 2013 and redeem them for active and sports equipment and experiences, and much much more.
Since 2005, Active Kids has donated £123 million worth of equipment and active experiences to more than 49,000 organisations.
West Park Leeds RFC - the club that recently hosted the full England side for a training session - has been awarded the RFU's Club Accreditation.
This means the club - which boasts England coach Stuart Lancaster as a member - also achieves Sport England Clubmark.
Lancaster’s son Dan also plays for the Under 12s at the North Leeds club, which has some of the best facilities outside the Premiership and Championship.
Having served their local community for 54 years, the club has certainly worked hard for this recognition.
Everyone in the Clubmark team would like to send their congratulations to Bradley Wiggins who was voted 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
The 32-year-old cyclist claimed Olympic time trial gold in the summer just a month after becoming the first Briton to win the Tour de France.
He scooped the BBC prize ahead of Jessica Ennis (runner-up) and Andy Murray (third place) after a public vote.
"To be ahead of Jess and Andy, it's probably my greatest sporting achievement," he told the BBC Sport website.
