Isle of Wight committed to increasing high quality sporting opportunities

The Isle of Wight's Sports Development unit is committed to increasing quality sporting opportunities on the Island. To this end, it has recently hosted its second club conference which included presentations on child protection, funding opportunities and Clare MacLeod's update on Clubmark.


Record numbers cross the finishing line...

This month Sport England awarded four more sporting agencies a licence to award Clubmark taking the total number of licensed organisations to an astounding 42!!


Young Volunteers Get Into The Festival Spirit

British Cycling's Go-Ride programme is designed to get more young people more active, more often in cycling and this includes volunteering. The success of cycling programmes relies on volunteers to ensure that the equipment, course and activities are safe, fun and challenging for the varying degrees of ability found among young people.

Clubmark club scoops award for school club links

Sport England has presented an award to five organisations that are excelling at getting more youngsters involved in sport, including Clubmark accredited North Dorset Rugby Football Club. The five grassroots gongs were presented as part of the inaugural Sport England Young People Best Practice Awards in Telford.


Chesham Swimming Club earn re-accreditation

Chesham Swimming Club has been re-accredited to the Amateur Swimming Association's Swim21 scheme thanks to the hard work of their working group who drew up a completely new submission under the updated scheme.


Delight as Coventry Basketball club gains re-accreditation

A COVENTRY sports club has become only the second in the country to pick up a prestigious award for the second time.

The city's Fast Break Basketball Club has successfully been re-accredited for the Sport England - England Basketball Clubmark scheme.


Tamworth VC Gain Volley 1 Accreditation

Tamworth Volleyball Club has joined an elite band of Volleyball clubs across the country in achieving Volley 1 (Clubmark) accreditation. Tamworth are now one of 38 Volley 123 accredited clubs across the country after the recent accreditation of Kings VC in Devon. Volleyball England set a target of having 40 accredited clubs by March 2009 and looks well on its way to meeting and surpassing this landmark.


Ten Norfolk clubs make their mark

Ten cricket clubs in Norfolk have recently achieved the coveted ECB Clubmark status, indicating that they operate to the highest standards set by the English Cricket Board.

Three clubs have gained the award for the first time, and seven have passed their re-accreditation which is required every three years.
