Bucks Hornets are latest basketball club to achieve Clubmark
Bucks Hornets are the latest club to be awarded Sport England - England Basketball Clubmark.
The Clubmark award is aimed at junior clubs and indicates that the club provides a safe and open environment for their young participants and do a good job of developing players, coaches, officials and basketball in general.
The Hornets, based in Aylesbury, are a relatively new club, but used the Clubmark accreditation criteria as a guideline in the development of their club.
The club's Lee McCarthy stated; "We are delighted to have achieved Clubmark accreditation. All our volunteers have been working very hard for this over the past season and it is very rewarding for everyone involved with the club to get this award.
Our club has gone from strength to strength in the past two years and the Clubmark achievement is a pure reflection of this. Clubmark has served as a great tool for moving our club in the right direction and ensuring good development pathways and firm structures were in place for the growth of our club.
In 2008 we started with only the U14 boys and now going into 2010 we will have teams represented for U13, U14, U15 & U16 boys and U14 & U16 girls."
