Clubmark club makes racket as the Sussex Club of the Year

It's a double slam for Crowborough Tennis and Squash Club as it celebrates Clubmark accreditation and being named the 2011 LTA Sussex Club of The Year.

The Club scooped the prestigious award at the Tennis Sussex Awards held at Wickwoods Country Club on November 19.

Success started with the Club being awarded Clubmark status, and this was quickly followed by a £25,000 grant from the LTA towards the cost of floodlighting on four additional courts. Since the floodlights were installed, the Club has greatly increased the numbers of people using its courts in both the summer and winter months.

In addition to the club title, long-standing member Cory Roberts was presented with the Club Volunteer of the Year Award. A member of the club since 1968, serving as a director between 200 and 2008, Cory has been invaluable to the club in his many roles, including captain and club match secretary.

There was further success on the night for the club with promising junior member Elliott Jones coming runner up in the County boys under 18 section.
