Clubmark 'first' for East Midlands Angling club
Northamptonshire based ECL have become the first angling club in their county and only the fifth in the East Midlands to receive the Clubmark for Angling award.
ECL applied for accreditation to support their efforts to encourage more local young people to participate in fishing.
The club boasts a group of qualified, insured and experienced coaches who deliver high quality coaching at fisheries both inside and outside Northampton.
The club has also been successful in applying for a number of grants from both the Environment Agency and the Northamptonshire Community Foundation, with the latter allowing them to deliver a programme of fishing sessions to young people with disabilities.
James Roche, Angling Development Board, Regional Development Officer commented:
"This is a great achievement by ECL Angling Club. The club have launched a number of really successful initiatives to get more young people from Northampton into angling and this award is greatly deserved".
There are currently 83 Clubmark accredited Angling clubs, to see their details, check the Clubmark database which can be found in the Resources section of this website http://www.clubmark.org.uk/resources/clubmark-resources/clubmark-accredited-clubs-database
