Clubmark re-accreditation for Greater Manchester Basketball Club
Following a weekend in which their U16 and U18 men's teams completed a Sureshot Cup double, Greater Manchester Basketball Club acheived more positives when the club successfully re-accredited as a Sport England - England Basketball Clubmark club.
The Clubmark award is aimed at junior clubs and indicates that the club provides a safe and open environment for their young participants and do a good job of developing players, coaches, officials and basketball in general. Greater Manchester originally acheived the award more than 4 years ago, meaning they had to re-apply for the award - an application that ultimately proved successful.
England Basketball's Clubmark Assessor, Craig Costello stated: "Greater Manchester are obviously a very large club and continue to do an excellent job in promoting and developing basketball. Their application clearly showed that their club philosophy is very much in line with England Basketball's and also with the Clubmark award."
The club's Jeff Jones said:
"The club is extremely pleased and proud of completeing the re-accredtiation for Clubmark. The feeling at the club regarding Clubmark has grown from a necessary box to tick, to one of enthusiastic support for the programme. The value the entire process adds to the overall stability of the club is tremendous and the benefits which accompany Clubmark only enhance the club. The re-accreditation process has helped highlight our strengths and areas which need to strengthened within the club. In this regard the process has been invaluable."
