A Winchester based tennis club is celebrating after being awarded the Clubmark tick of success by the Lawn Tennis Association. 

The LTA awarded Kingsgate Lawn Tennis Club with Clubmark status at a ceremony on Saturday July 16th 2011 at the club's home in Domum Road.

Kingsgate club chairman Roly Riem stated:

 "The Clubmark award is a landmark in our club's relationship with the LTA and also a result of a lot of hard work to make Kingsgate a great place to play tennis. We are proud of the welcome we give to players of all ages and abilities in such beautiful surroundings."

Erika Wright and David Woodford from the club have been credited for dedicating their time to the accreditation process and ensuring the club achieved Clubmark, which has already benefitted the club by enabling them to apply for a four figure grant towards a practice wall that will be installed this autumn/winter.
