Last month saw England Athletics accredit Melton Kings with Clubmark accreditation. 

The Club had to prove they were managed well, the coaching was of a high standard and carried out by qualified coaches, all the coaches and officials were CRB checked and there was a plan of club development.

As reward for meeting the core Clubmark criteria, the Kings also received a £500 cheque from England Basketball to help further develop the Club. Club coach Neil Atkins who put the bid together said:

"It is an amazing achievement for our Club and a lot of credit should go to all the committee and members who have worked hard to develop the Club from strength to strength. But we don't want to rest on our laurels and are looking to take the Club further. Some of the money will go towards developing our officials and coaches. We would also like to develop our junior sections and start a girl's and ladies' team."
