New accrediting partner for Clubmark

Clubmark is pleased to announce that a new national governing body of sport, the Grand National Archery Society, has recently been awarded a license to accredit its junior sports clubs. The GNAS is the recognised governing body for all forms of archery in the UK and is currently responsible for approximately 30,000 members. The GNAS is affiliated to the International Archery Federation (FITA) and is a member of the British Olympic Association.

Archery is an established Olympic sport and has been highly commended by the International Olympic Committee for its ability to adapt to the changing face of sport and the media.

John Willson, National Development Officer has been working with Clare MacLeod (National Clubmark Manager) for the past few months, with a final meeting in October to ensure that all the relevant processes and procedures have been established to enable Archery clubs to be accredited. Commenting on the new announcement John said, "Clubmark is creating a real buzz within the world of archery. Many clubs have indicated their desire to achieve accreditation so we look forward to developing a network of accredited archery clubs across the country."

The scheme has been launched to the key members of the sport and much interest has been received. The first club to pilot the process and achieve accreditation is Long Mynd, Shropshire, home of Alison Williamson, Bronze Medallist at the Athens Olympics.
