NEW....maps of Clubmark clubs

Updated Clubmark maps have now been loaded to the Clubmark website. These are produced quarterly by KKP's GIS team to depict the geographical spread of accredited clubs using the data from the Clubmark database.

Maps are created by sport and by region to illustrate the diversity and spread of clubs in Clubmark sports across each of Sport England's nine regions. They help to identify areas of strength but more importantly gaps where investment and resource is still needed.

What do they show?

  • Ten of the 11 medal-winning sports at the 2008 Olympics support Clubmark. These picked up 41 of the 47 UK medals won. The maps show a good national distribution of accredited clubs in particular for cycling, swimming, rowing, athletics, canoeing and gymnastics. Is there a connection?
  • The maps for Golf and Tennis show that many more clubs have been accredited over the past 2 years than during prior periods.
  • Maps for Rowing and Canoeing clearly show that apart from a scattering of clubs on the South coast, the majority of clubs are based inland for both sports so you don't need to live near the coast to get wet!

So, whether you are a licensed NGB, a CSP looking for performance measurement tools or a local authority officer looking to identify or confirm the Clubmark clubs in your area, these maps and the accompanying database are a vital resource providing invaluable insight and may help you to target areas for future development.
