Prestwich sports club... a shining example
Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club (PCTBC) has obtained Clubmark accreditation from GreaterSport for its Crown Green Bowling section and almost simultaneously has been awarded Charter Standard for its football section from the F.A.
These latest achievements means that the club is the first multi-sport club in the UK to achieve accreditations in all its sports, the Tennis and Cricket sections had received the awards some time ago.
Clubmark is the only national cross sport accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. In order to receive the award clubs have to achieve a set of consistent and accepted operating standards. Sport clubs need to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young participants, to encourage young people to take-up sport, improve their talent and give them the opportunity to maintain a life-long participation in sport.
In recognition of the clubs achievements Bury Sports Development Unit have awarded Prestwich CTBC the 'Club Recognition Award'. Zoe Fernandez from Bury Sports Development Unit praised the clubs success by saying, ‘Well done for all your efforts and hard work, the work of PCTBC is a shining example to other clubs in the Borough.'
Brian Lorenzini PCTBC's Chairman said,
"We are thrilled to receive the last two accreditations as it demonstrates our commitment to the community and in particular the youth of the community who are our future. It has taken many years of hard work by members of the club and we are proud to be the first club in the entire UK to hold accreditations in all its sections."
