Trowbridge achieve Clubmark accreditation

Trowbridge Basketball Club are the latest club to achieve Sport England - England Basketball Clubmark accreditation.

The Clubmark scheme is a national accreditation for sports clubs who demonstrate they are "safe, effective and child-friendly". The scheme establishes minimum standards for clubs to meet in order to achieve Clubmark status and enables parents, carers and young people to recognise a quality sports club.

The club's Vince Marriott commented: "This is a great honour and reflects our club's philosophy and determination to provide basketball for all in our area. Trowbridge is a well established club which enjoys excellent partnerships with St Augustine's Sports College and Wiltshire (West) Sports Development."

"The club has recently taken a major step towards providing clear progression routes in a rural area for any player, coach or offcial who wishes to play at higher levels. Our partnership with Bath Basketball Club is, we believe, an innovative model which allows us to build and develop the resources we have in terms of players, coaches, officials and club administration. This will ensure that we cater for any one regardless of age or ability who wants to enjoy basketball."

"The process of gaining Clubmark gave us the focus to create our partnerships and provided a set of common goals on which we will continue to build."

England Basketball's Clubmark Assessor, Craig Costello, commented: "The application from Trowbridge made it obvious that they provide a very positive atmosphere and structure for all of their young participants. They should be rightly proud of the work that they have done and are very deserving of Clubmark accreditation."

The club received £500 for achieving the accreditation and will now be eligible for Clubmark Incentive Scheme grants in the future.
