Clubmark would like to remind everyone that there are now just a few days to go until the big Join In Weekend.

Earlier this year, we played our part in letting everybody know about this great Olympic related initiative.

It offered accredited clubs an excellent opportunity to promote themselves during London 2012 by offering the chance to be listed on the high-profile Join In website. 

The site provided a great way of reaching a wider audience and gave clubs a chance to recruit new members and volunteers.

 To be listed, clubs were asked to offer free taster sessions or similar experiences. 

Now, as the Join In Weekend approaches (18/19th August), thousands of clubs and community groups will be holding fun, free events and activities for all ages.

There are well over 5,000 of these and people can attend as many as they like.

The Join In organisers say that no host nation has ever staged a post-Olympic event like this and they are calling it the UK’s biggest ever celebration of grassroots sport.

Many of Team GB’s athletes started their sporting journey at local clubs and made a point of thanking the coaches and volunteers who helped them to achieve success at the Games.

Join In Local Sport is playing its part in celebrating these unsung heroes who help create great champions.
