Yatton Netball Club achieves accreditation through England Netball Clubmark Award Scheme.
Yatton Netball Club was established in May 2005 due to a local demand and interest in playing the game of netball. This proved popular with all ages, so a junior section was introduced a year later and a permanent base was needed for the club.
It started fund raising and with the support of Yatton RFC, several grants and sponsorship; planning permission was granted to build 2 floodlit netball courts at the rugby club.
Yatton Netball Club has been very successful with a growing membership, and now supports 3 Senior and an U16 team in the Weston & District Netball League. Its U15 and U12 teams play in the Junior Bristol League and last year the Club introduced High 5's netball for junior school age (girls and boys years 5 and 6) and ‘Summer Back to Netball' session.
Yatton continues to develop the Club's junior section by participating in a local ‘School Link Program' with guidance from Avon Netball. This scheme gives the opportunity to G.C.S.E. pupils to improve their coaching skills and gain experience alongside the Club's qualified coaches.
Julia Wallis said, "We aim to cover all aspects of the sport by offering the opportunity to increase fitness, knowledge of the game including the chance to learn to umpire, coach and being part of a club and most importantly have fun. We are really pleased and excited about the Clubmark success of our village netball club, especially as we are still fairly new. It is all thanks to the interest of players and the volunteers who run the club."
