Clubmark helps clubs gain much deserved recognition across the sports world

Nottingham Horseball Club based in Gunthorpe, Nottingham is the leading competition club in the UK. Established in 1991 and Clubmark accredited in 2008, the Club is a member of the British Horseball Association, which is a member body of the British Equestrian Federation.

It was keen to achieve accreditation to gain recognition within the sports world and locally as well as get improved access to communications, media and funding sources. Working with the British Horse Society and supported by the CSP and CPSU, the Club completed its portfolio in just 6 weeks as much of it was based on ongoing work with the British Equestrian Federation and the Coaching Action Development Group.

The Club quickly reaped the rewards of achieving accreditation and the recognition this received. One particular junior member, who has been identified as a member of the British team, is now receiving educational support from her local county sports partnership.  Furthermore, specific funding information is being received from several sources and funding opportunities have increased.

The Club has also raised its profile with relevant sporting agencies. For instance, the club now receives regular communications regarding local training workshops that are proving useful for its UKCC Level 3 coach portfolio work.

Mary Pettifor, spokesperson for Nottingham Horseball Club said,

"Becoming Clubmark accredited is easy for any club who is already going down the route of providing best practice services to their members. It has over the last year, enhanced our communication within the local sporting community and has given us a good base-line to move onward and upwards from."
