Re-accreditation - an opportunity to celebrate
North Wilts Golf Club has had a thriving junior section for many years, but the process of applying for Junior GolfMark in 2005 showed us that we needed to be more than just a friendly, well-intentioned club.
Working on junior involvement with the club and child protection issues was useful for everyone connected to junior golf and the membership at large were interested in what the award was and delighted when we were acknowledged as a junior friendly facility.
When, after three years, that accreditation needed renewing and upgrading, it was a good chance to celebrate the things that had gone well and the progress made and to review our procedures. The questionnaire was easy to understand and, although gathering evidence was quite time-consuming, it is there in the file for future reference.
Our boys and girls of all ages are seen so often on the practice area, the putting green and the course; they love their golf and are successful, well-mannered and valued members of our club - it is nice for us to have the GolfMark High Achiever Award to show their parents and the parents of prospective junior golfers that we are a good place for their children to visit and get involved.
