Spotlight on... Aaron Senior

Aaron is a Basketball coach and the Officials Development Officer for Newham All-Star Sports Academy in London. Aaron has been with the club for 2 years, having been spotted coaching a school team whilst still of school age himself. Club director, Natasha Hart, asked Aaron to come along to a session at the club and he has been involved ever since.

Even though he is only 18, Aaron plays a large role within the club, as he coaches at a local school and also arranges the Newham Schools Basketball Finals. These roles put him an excellent position to sign-post any interested youngsters towards the club. He has found the schools he contacts a lot more receptive to the club ever since they achieved Clubmark status!

Aaron also serves as a mentor and role-model for any youngsters interested in becoming a basketball official, as he has been a Level 1 Table Official and Level 2 Referee since February 2007 and was named as England Basketball's Volunteer Referee of the Year later in the year.

Aaron said of Clubmark: "What we did not expect was the positive impact that this would have on our juniors, their parents and the volunteers who take the time out of their busy week to work with our players. Things just keep getting better and better."
