Spotlight on… Adam Stubbing
Adam Stubbing is a volunteer helper and player at King's Lynn Badminton Club in Norfolk.
He started at the club as a junior player at the age of 11 and has been playing there for the last 5 years. This dedicated and talented teenager has been a volunteer helper at the junior club for nearly 2 years.
Adam is also a member of the Norfolk under 17 county squad and is highly regarded by the county selectors, not only as a player of a high standard, but also as a real 'team player'.
Adam played an active role in the Club's achievement of Clubmark, assisting coaches in developing young players in a child friendly and controlled, safe environment.
Initially, he helped youngsters to take up the sport and to improve their skills as beginners. But more importantly, he encourages them to continue playing to improve further in a competitive environment.
Adam said, "I have especially enjoyed working with one junior member who has a disability, and helped him to improve his communication and badminton skills. I try to
act as a role model for younger children to show them what they can achieve by being a member of our club."
Keen to further his qualifications as a Leader, he wants to go on the first level 1 course as soon as he turns 16 at the end of the year.
Norma Bowen, club coach said, "Adam is a very intelligent young man, and despite the fact that he is in his GCSE year, and treats his school work with utmost importance, he is always available to help at the Kings Lynn Junior club and West Norfolk elite juniors. He has a wonderfully confident and enthusiastic demeanour, and all the younger children respond well to him. I know that I am able to rely on Adam at all times, and I am very lucky to have him as my junior club volunteer."
