Spotlight on... Bob Healey
Bob Healey is the Training Officer of Tameside Divers. He deals with the organising of training courses for members and applying for grants to help pay for the courses.
He has been involved with the club for nine years after he took his son to the Club when he was six because he wanted to learn to snorkel and somehow got involved and learned himself.
When the Club embarked on Clubmark, Bob kept the file and collated the different parts that others members were tasked to deliver. (Mmmmm, and did those that weren't completed). He also assisted the NGB, BSAC, gaining the Clubmark licence to accredit.
He continues to develop the junior committee members so they have a greater say in the running of the Club and ensuring they receive the necessary training.
Through achieving Clubmark accreditation, the club has benefited from the opportunity to run taster sessions for local schools and holiday programmes, giving outsiders, especially parents, greater confidence in the Club in so far as it is run and organised properly.
Bob said, " Clubmark has given our Club the recognition that we knew it deserved, it has also shown the junior members that they have the potential to run the Club, and the confidence to do it, and has shown the volunteers that their work is being recognised and appreciated by others rather than just the committee and the members."
