Spotlight on... Craig Costello
Craig has been working as Clubmark Administrator for England Basketball for three years but has been working for the NGB since 2006 in roles varying from Volunteer Development to Online Shop Administration. In his current position Craig assesses the Clubmark folders submitted by clubs working towards accreditation and provides them with the support and resources needed in order to achieve Clubmark.
In addition to being responsible for all elements of administration in relation to Clubmark for England Basketball (including keeping track of the monetary incentive payments paid to clubs based on their number of registered members) Craig also, along with the Club and National Development Managers, oversees the promotion of the scheme to non-Clubmark clubs as part of the general development of basketball clubs in England.
At the end of March 2011 Craig was instrumental in accrediting eight new basketball clubs in time for inclusion in the England Basketball Clubmark Incentive Scheme, a testament to his excellent organisational skills and knowledge of Clubmark.
Away from the office Craig both plays and volunteers in sport - being the vice chairman of his local cricket club, a basketball referee and officiate at national league level in the north of England and he is also a volunteer basketball statistician - a role which he is hoping to fulfil at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games.
Craig's thoughts on Clubmark: "It has had a big impact on the development of junior basketball clubs across England. The process of applying for Clubmark has helped numerous clubs to improve their structures and policies, leading to them being in a better position to deliver a positive basketball experience to larger numbers of young people."
