Spotlight on… Molly Crisp
Molly Crisp is the Junior co-ordinator of Dereham Hockey Club, based in Dereham , Norfolk. Molly has been involved with Dereham Hockey Club for over 20 years, she is an active member who still plays and raises funds for the club, as a parent she also brings her children down to play.
Within her role Molly coordinates the youth coaches, organises the youth events, tournaments and ‘stix skills'. As an umpire Molly has taken a keen interest in encouraging and developing youth umpiring, and is currently involved in helping to organise the second youth section tour of Australia.
When the club decided to go for Clubmark/Clubs 1st, Molly supported, coordinated and motivated the volunteers within the club that put the Clubs 1st structures and working practices together.
Since achieving Clubs 1st, the club has enjoyed a higher profile and credibility within the county. The club also has more organised systems and structures. There is an increased focus on the importance of the youth section within the club and we have especially enjoyed being able to access more funding. All this has led to an increase in participation especially in the 6-11 year old age group and the involvement of their parents. It has served to rejuvenate and inspire the club.
Molly thinks that "Clubs 1st has enabled us to formalise and structure our youth section to support the development of our youngsters to enjoy and play hockey to the best of their ability."
