Spotlight on... Nick Freeman

Nick is a key member of Camp Hill RFC. As Mini & Junior Chairman and U12 Assistant Coach his primary role is to oversee the weekly operation of the mini and junior sections as well as liaison with the Main Club Committee. He has been involved with the club for 9 years and like many other volunteers initially became involved as a result of his sons taking up the game.

Nick worked on the Sub-Committee with 2 other members to collate the necessary information and completion of required tasks to achieve Clubmark accreditation.

Nick feels that Clubmark has benefited from Clubmark in a number of ways. Internally, it has "forced" the Club to act in a more professional manner, by keeping electronic records, improving communication between all sections, reviewing health & safety and risk assessment procedures. From an external perspective, the club now has proof that it is a respectable, bona fide and well run Club, with a sound management structure, a high level of coaching expertise and it maintains high standards for the of welfare of any age group, sex or nationality.

He said, "As a Club, we recognised to attract new Mini & Junior players to our Club (and to Rugby) that Clubmark was a "must have" item. Since the award, we have found it beneficial in approaching schools and other organisations in the promotion of the sport. We have found that it has benefited recruitment within junior girls particularly, as it has enabled us to offer taster sessions at local schools."
