Spotlight on Pat Gabbitas

Pat Gabbitas and Lev Baddley are Swim 21 Coordinator and Secretary for Atherton and Leigh Amateur Swimming Club based in the North West of England. Both have been involved with the Club more many years.

Working as a team, Pat has led the Club to identify, implement and collate the necessary evidence as part of the Clubmark accreditation process, whilst Lev has communicated progress to the entire club, particularly through the website and new handbook.

Since embarking on the Clubmark/Swim21 journey the club has improved its policies and secured a safe environment for all young swimmers. The club's membership is rising and the Club has benefited from training and development.

Pat said, "Atherton and Leigh Amateur Swimming Club entered our new pool at Leigh Sports Village in January 2008 with a mission to be recognised as a quality organisation, which provides our swimmers with the opportunity to develop their talents, in a child friendly safe environment. This Clubmark award is a huge moral boost and recognises our hard working volunteers. We have used Swim 21 as a foundation for our renewed policies and procedures and used it as a template for best practice."
